It’s time for the HP Heisman Watch.  This is my ranking of the players who have the best chance at actually winning the Heisman.  It is not a predicted order of the voting, so some players who are not on this list will still get Heisman votes in the end. 1.  Chris Wells, Ohio State–Wells holds on to the... more »

Posted by ESPN.com's Ted Miller For entertainment purposes only. And if I'm wrong, I'm guessing you'll be entertained. Oregon State 24, Stanford 20: This smelled like a potential Stanford upset, but then the Cardinal got hit with a couple of injuries on the OL and at WR, so the Beavers get the nod in a game that figures to... more »

Stanley Havili gets some love in the W post!

"He's versatile; he is our offense," junior running back Stafon Johnson said of Havili.

The Trojan rushing attack amassed 128 yards/game sans Havili in 2006 and 197.2 yards/game with him in 2007.

Posted by ESPN.com's Ted Miller Of course, you plan to watch every game. But if you had to pick 10, might we suggest... 1. Ohio State at USC, Sept. 13: It's the game of the year, period. The winner is an immediate national title contender and the loser won't be eliminated. No game this season will even approach the... more »

Posted by ESPN.com's Ted Miller From the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA): The USC Trojans are the top-ranked team in the Football Writers Association of America's preseason Grantland Rice Super 16 Poll. The Trojans nipped second-ranked Georgia, although both schools picked up five first-place votes. It's the fourth time in five years USC has been picked No. 1... more »

Posted by ESPN.com's Ted Miller LOS ANGELES -- It passed through my head that perhaps I should ask UCLA center Micah Reed whether he'd seen "The Dark Knight," or what he thought of Michael Phelps at the Olympics or whether he'd noticed that it was another beautiful day in Southern California. His look of resignation -- I'm UCLA's center,... more »

Allen Bradford loses 1 yard on a carry. On 3rd down, Gerald Washington blocks Corp's pass. Next! Actually, they are still going with Corp. Bradford gains 2 yards on a carry. Corp escapes a sack and gains about 19 yards on a scramble. Joe McKnight jukes a couple times and gains 14 yards. Corp's pass in deflected by Taylor... more »

Reggie Bush was nicknamed "The President" while in college, but there are some USC alums with aspirations for the real job. Plenty has been made over potential Republican First Lady Cindy McCain being a Trojan (husband John turned a few heads when publicly referring to the school as the University of Spoiled Children). Fewer people realize that a pair... more »

This is a phrase that is often used when talking about the superiority of the SEC as a conference.  As in “year-in, year-out, the SEC is the strongest league in college football.” You hear it a lot.  Way too much, in fact. Now, here’s the thing.  The SEC is currently the top conference.  It was amazingly good last year... more »

Every year, there are several freshmen who end up making quite an impact on college football. Once in a while, we are lucky enough to witness a true phenom in action, like an Adrian Peterson or a Herschel Walker. Which first-year players have a chance to be the next Peterson in 2008? Here’s my list: Jermie Calhoun, RB, Oklahoma–I... more »
