USC Women Win National Title

The USC women's soccer team had never made it to the playoffs before this season. Now they're on top of it all, shutting out FSU on Sunday 2-0, to win the University of Southern California its first ever women's soccer NCAA National Championship, under the leadership first-year head coach Ali Khosroshahin. As reported on Press-Telegram, coach Khosroshahin had this to say of winning the national title:
"It takes most programs three to five years to change the culture and we've done it in one year...All the credit goes to these young ladies in seeing and believing in what they are doing, and I couldn't be more proud of them ... it's unheard of, in your first year, to do what we've done. This is pretty amazing."
In minute 20, Marihelen Tomer scored to make it 1-0. Janessa Currier's 75th minute goal lifted the Trojan lead to 2-0. Trojan goalkeeper Kristin Olsen had two saves, making it her fifth shutout in six playoff victories and a record 15th shutout for the season.
