Tyron Smith

By Paragon SC, Conquest Chronicles
Lets start with Anthony McCoy! We all saw how great he played against Penn State in the Rose Bowl and he is now showing us that he is a legitimate contender for the Mackey Award and the he could be a great pick-up in the NFL. He is one of the better blocking TE's in the game and his... more »

The end is near. And with it, so too is the beginning. The entire team hustled through an hour-long Trojan Run workout early Friday morning, completing their sixth week of the summer program and leaving just 10 more workouts before Fall Camp and the 2009 season officially kick off.Through agility and conditioning drills under the watchful eye of the USC strength... more »

Posted by ESPN.com's Ted Miller Eighth in a series on grounds for optimism and worry. Biggest reason for hope -- An intact offensive line leads nine returning offensive starters. Coaches often say it all starts with the offensive line (though this is an interesting contrarian argument), so the Trojans should be off to a good start with five starters returning... more »

Halfway there! Here’s the fifth thing we learned this spring about USC football: No. 5 — All-Pac-10 center Kristofer O’Dowd is worthy of all the hype. How can this be? How could Kristofer O’Dowd prove his value without taking a single spring snap? It seems counterintuitive, but hear me out: Sometimes we don’t realize the value of a player... more »

The jury is out. Pete Carroll announced today his depth chart going into the huddle. Of course in traditional Carroll fashion, the competition for starting positions will continue throughout Summer workouts. But the Spring depth charts typically hold strong resemblance to the final list, come start of the football season.

Follow the jump for the complete list.

USC practiced with only two healthy offensive tackles -- Tyron Smith, Matt Kalil -- because Charles Brown and Butch Lewis were out with groin injuries. Nick Howell was already out with a pulled hamstring.... more »

Some thoughts on USC's Junior Day: D.J. Morgan (above) and Dillon Baxter, both commits for 2010 class, are really making a concerted effort to try and recruit players to join the class.  Baxter, who's been very involved in the program, reminds me a lot of D.J. Shoemate who also committed early and was vocal early on. Cassius Marsh, DT from... more »

I mocked the depth chart released last spring because it showed Charles Brown and Butch Lewis at left tackle while Alex Parsons started at right tackle. And it took about five minutes in training camp for Lewis to take over at right tackle. He and Brown are established starters right now. Pat Ruel said Nick Howell's been inconsistent so... more »

From Rivals.com:PAT RUEL – USC BUZZ:  Ruel was a serious candidate for national recruiter of the year with an average star ranking for his six signees of 4.17. He helped recruit five-star offensive linemen Matt Kalil and Tyron Smith, but he helped pull in one of the biggest Signing Day surprises when he able to get Rivals100 cornerback... more »

The scene was on court at the Galen Center again, where a couple times Pete Carroll expressed his desire to see Tim Floyd's bunch hand the Bruins another loss this year.

Carroll said this class was about "bigs" not "flash" and he felt fortunate that the Trojans were in a position to play it this way, this year. Joe McKnight was sure excited about the 5 solid offensive line prospects.

After the jump are some notes from last nights event.
