Trojans Jump to AP #1

Devon Pollard, TrojanWire

Move over Georgia, Ohio State, the Trojans are the new top dogs in town. USC's 52-7 romp over Virginia seems to have made an impression, fetching greater AP voting weight than Georgia's and Ohio States' "glorified scrimmages". As quoted by AP reporter Ralph D. Russo, Pete Carroll took the leap over Georgia and Ohio State in stride:

"We realize that rankings so early in a season are certainly fluid. But rankings do help establish a pecking order for things later in the season," USC coach Pete Carroll said in a statement. "As for moving into the No. 1 spot, it's nice to know that people think highly of our team."

To further cement the Trojans #1 status, SI.com college football guru Stewart Mandel bumped USC to the highest position in his college football power rankings, moving Ohio State down to 4th. And in case you missed USC's sick performance on Saturday, seven touchdowns to seven different players...follow the jump for the video highlights.
