The Saints need to sign Reggie Bush
So we heard on SportsCenter that the Saints were using Ronnie Brown, the #2 pick from last years draft, as a benchmark for Bush?
- Ronnie Brown got a 5-year $34 million contract ($20 million guaranteed).
- Vince Young just signed a 6-year $58 million ($25.9 million guaranteed).
- And Mario Williams signed the day before the draft for $54 million ($26.5 million guaranteed).
If the Saints don't come to the table with a deal better or closer to Mario Williams and Vince Young, then we can pretty much count on Reggie Bush holding out.

Dear Mr. Benson (Saints owner, for those of you who don't know):
Ronnie Brown? C'mon.
Reggie was better than Ronnie Brown as a freshman. We can debate all day (with all the Walter Payton/Barry Sanders/Marshall Faulk lovers and SC haters) what Reggie GOING to do in the pros. But I'm pretty sure we can all agree that if potential were measured in smell, Reggie would be the funkiest RB prospect to come along in awhile. There'd be visible smell lines coming off of him like Pigpen in 'Peanuts'.
This is why your entire city, still recovering from disaster, got together and threw a party when he dropped to you at #2.
And as someone who's followed Reggie's career as closely as anyone for the past 3 years, I can say with confidence that Reggie just wants to play. At the same time -- he would just as soon hand Vince his Heisman Trophy as he would take a deal that was smaller than the guy drafted BEHIND him. Because he's not an idiot.
Make a competitive offer to the kid, or just trade him already. But don't act like it isn't all your OWN doing, you cheap, old, umbrella-dancin' fool.
