Well to me, it was quite obvious that USC was trying to keep things "under wraps" for Nebraska. But this was never the case just a few years ago when the Trojan's had Leinart and Bush, they just went out with confidence, and said "try to stop us from kicking your ass!" They didn't give a damn about what people saw on tape.

What I saw on Saturday nite, was exactly what I saw last year: Tentative, lackluster, and lacking in confidence coaching from both the offensive (Sarkisian) and Defensive coaching staffs. Its like they have no damn confidence in the unbelievable talent they have at this school. I thought USC had gotten past earlier this year when they beat Michigan in the Rose Bowl, and the play calling on both sides of the ball (Booty's 391 yards and 4 TD's, and the defense's 6 sacks) was decisive and had balls to it.

USC hasn't been the same since Norm Chow and Ed Ogerton left for The Titans and Ole Miss, respectively, and it really shows. How the HELL do you have as much talent as this team has, and have such a half-ass, underconfident performance against an opponent which was vastly inferior? Why isn't Booty throwing downfield to Fred Davis, Hazelton, Turner and Johnson? These guys all are big, fast and can catch the ball!! Theres only one explanation: The damn coaching staff is holding these kids back, and its a damn shame!! AND it could cost them dearly when they do face the tough games ahead! Crap-ass play calling like what I saw on Saturday nite made my stomach churn! Hell, I could do a better job of coaching than Carroll and his staff exhibited on Sat nite!

I agree also that it goes back to and explains last year's underwhelming finish. Cowardice, it seems to be, since the easiest way to prove themselves as NFL-worthy is to be weak-kneed at the play calling and then to ride the recruiting talent to a strong, low-risk finish. You hear that Coach S.?!

Also I'd add that perhaps it displays some disrespect of the talent they will face and the inherent difficulties that winning won games creates. You might also have added the final drive in the UW finish from last year as a glaring example of how a chimp with a dartboard could be more creative with their playbook than what we've seen from the coach staff over the past year.

The game today was a horrible loss. The cheers at the LSU game continue to ring in my ear. LSU and Florida looked better than that team that played Stanford today. The Cal Bears definitely look like a better team this year. The Bears should be Number 1 in the new poll.
