The scene was on court at the Galen Center again, where a couple times Pete Carroll expressed his desire to see Tim Floyd's bunch hand the Bruins another loss this year.

Carroll said this class was about "bigs" not "flash" and he felt fortunate that the Trojans were in a position to play it this way, this year. Joe McKnight was sure excited about the 5 solid offensive line prospects.

The transfer of UNLV's Shane Horton to USC is on one level a slapback to the Rebels because USC feels it illegally contacted Rocky Hinds before he transferred. We recently heard a former USC football player was pretty much banned from the program for his role convincing Hinds to leave USC for UNLV before he turned in an official... more »

DT: Which of the young quarterbacks, John David Booty, Rocky Hinds or Mark Sanchez, has you the most excited for USC's future?

SS: They all bring something a little different to the table, which is always exciting. John David Booty was much heralded, coming out of high school a year early. You can see his maturity level, not only physically, but mentally really elevating. I think he's got a bright future ahead of him. Rocky Hinds is a physical specimen. He was injured his last year of high school. The kid has tremendous upside, and he's only going to get better. His future is so bright. Mark Sanchez is just a great kid. You can see his leadership skills, and he's not even on the field yet. He has a very dynamic personality that the kids are gravitating to.

"For the first time, we got to see him run a little bit," Carroll said. "In all the time he's been here, we've really never seen him get out much and have a chance to use his legs, and he looked good. He looked real good."

Booty

#11 will not be taking snaps as Spring Practice begins today for the Trojans.

"This spring, with Matt out, we have the unique opportunity to develop competition and depth at the quarterback spot."

Pete Carroll is talking about John David Booty--the hot quarterback prospect who graduated a year early from his Louisiana high school to sign with USC.

#17 will be taking most of the snaps.

But Rocky Hinds, whose play has been compared to Donavan McNabb, will be competing for that No. 2 spot just as vigorously.

And class of 2005 recruit, Mark Sanchez will be coming to study the offense after he gets done with his limited high scool schedule at 12:30pm.
