Recruiting from Your Own Backyard

Rory MacDonald, TrojanWire

The Long Beach Press Telegram released their "Best in the West" -- a list of the highest-rated recruits from Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, Utah or Washington.

Pete Carroll seems to be doing a pretty good job of making sure that any talent west of the Rockies comes to play football for the USC Trojans.

All highlights have indicated a commitment to USC with the others considering USC except for the two cross-offs. (Jimmy Clausen is going to Notre Dame. And Brian Price to UCLA.)

Anyone else find it interesting that Jimmy Clausen wasn't able to convince a single top SoCal recruit including 11 D-I scholarship players from his own Oaks Christian team, to join him at ND? He's been committed for over a year now. You'd kids would be lining up to play with the "second coming of John Elway", yet even his own teammates aren't buying in. In fact the other five stars on the team are heading to SC.

FIGHT ON!

Correction: You'd think kids...missing the think in my rush to post.
