The Demolition of a National Treasure

Well not really.

But the annex of the Phi Delta Theta chapter at USC was a testament to squalor, and living in it; partying there was unlike any other and doubtful to be replicated any time soon.

(No way does a fire marshal or state health official ever let students live in a condemned building with a hallway lined in broken glass again.)

USC's Phi Delt Catches Fire

The Phi Delt house has been abandoned, surrounded by barbwire since the fraternity was kicked off campus in 2003--so nobody was hurt. But the overnight

blaze required the aid of 125 firefighters.

Phi Delt was home to several USC football players of years past: Mike Salmon, Grant Pearsall, John Himebauch, Mark Matock, Jeff Diltz, and most recently

Sonny Byrd.

TrojanWire will post additional photos and details about the fire (and the aftermath) as they become available.
