FUN FACT I
This is the first time that a pair of Heisman Trophy winners (USC’s Matt Leinart and Oklahoma’s Jason White) will face each other in a game.

FUN FACT II
USC has never played a game on Jan. 4. This is also the latest USC has ended a season since the 1891 campaign (Feb. 22, 1892); Troy’s debut 1888 season also ended late (on Jan. 19, 1889).

FUN FACT III
Between them, USC’s staff has coached in 77 bowl games at the major college level.

FUN FACT IV
In years that USC beat UCLA and Notre Dame and then played in a bowl game, the Trojans are 10-1 (wins in 1938-62-67-72-74-76-78-79-2002-03 and the loss in 1981).

FUN FACT V
This will be the fourth time that USC enters a bowl game ranked No. 1 by AP. The Trojans were victorious in the previous 3 such bowls (1962-67-72), winning national championships each season.

FUN FACT VI
Under Pete Carroll, USC has allowed its 3 bowl opponents to average just 13.7 points.
