TrojanWire's sincere condolences go out to Lynn Swann and his campaign staff; you ran what we consider to be an ideal campaign, complete with a real world demonstration of beer pong mastery, but in the end it wasn't enough to overcome the resounding wave of anti-GOP sentiment in these midterm elections.

Alas, we're sure there's good things ahead in your political future. We're still looking forward to a Swann/Ronnie Lott Presidential ticket, sometime around 2016-2020.

From the world's best blog named after Raul Mondesi (via Deadspin) comes yet another example of the excellence of prodigal Trojan son/soon-to-be-Governor Lynn Swann:

He takes the ball without question and we walk to the table. He then says, "Just throw it in the cup?" I agree with him and give him a little advice because the wind was kicking up at this fine day. ... He makes a few arm motions warming up a bit, eyes the red cup at the other end of the table filled slightly with IC Light, takes a breath and lets it fly. The crowd that surrounded the table was at least 30 deep by now with Steeler fans cheering for him like he was back on the field again. Cameras flashing, video camera's rolling, his bodyguards and marketing team thinking about the damage this might do to his campaign and then...

SPLASH DOWN....

The crowd erupts with cheers as the ball lands inside the cup. He turns to me and gives me a high 5 before fleeing the scene and probably having his marketing team erase all video of this ever happening but it doesn't get much better than this.

Citizens of Pennsylvania -- elect this man already.

One of our great Trojan gridiron stars, Lynn Swann, is looking at running for Governor of Pennsylvania. He has lived in Pittsburgh since graduating from USC where he was a Hall of Fame Player for the Steelers. You've probably kept tabs on him throughout his career as a broadcaster and as the head of the President's Council on Physical Fitness as well.

Lynn needs to know that Trojans all over the country are supportive of his run for Governor.
