LSU Skips USC for Top Spot

Devon Pollard, TrojanWire

The LSU Tigers have leap-frogged over USC for the top spot in the AP-25. The Tigers (33 votes, 1593 points) received one more first place vote than the Trojans (32 votes, 1591 points), supplanting themselves in the number one spot.

The Trojans, who fought a hard victory in Seattle against the Washington Huskies, had held the top spot since the pre-season poll at the start of the 2007 season. LSU overcame a slight 10-9 half time advantage to muscle Tulane away 34-9.

Would this be the same AP poll that awarded the National Championship to USC over LSU a couple of seasons ago? The same poll that LSU fans failed to recognize then? Recognize the poll now LSU fans?

Basically the showdown with LSU is going to be even better if they can alternate the lead spot a couple of times.
