LB Recruit Simmons Arrested
The way USC molds linebackers, Maurice Simmons had the potential to make millions in just four years. Now his future might all be changed. Scott Wolf is reporting on the Daily Breeze that the four-star linebacker recruit was arrested Wednesday, for an alleged armed robbery in Compton. One of the top line backer recruits in California, and #4 weak-side linebacker in the country, Simmons boasted 150 tackles, three sacks, three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries as a junior.
"Someone was robbed on the street and we were flagged down by the victim. We then confiscated a handgun and the victim's belongings (from Simmons),'' said Steve Whitmore, a Los Angeles Sheriff Dept. spokesperson.
Simmons is now held on a 50,000 bond and scheduled to be arraigned Friday. USC has said they are aware of the arrest, but have not given any details into their chosen course of action regarding Simmons.

YOU KNOW, USC REALLY NEEDS TO BE CAREFUL ABOUT HOW THEY HANDLE THIS SITUATION. WHILE USC CRANKS OUT STELLAR ATHLETES, AT THE SAME TIME, USC LATELY SEEMS TO BE CRANKING OUT STELLAR CONTROVERSIES (IE, REGGIE BUSH,OJ,ETC).
THIS KID IS A GOOD ATHLETE, BUT THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF YOUNG MEN WHO WOULD GIVE THEIR RIGHT ARM TO BE IN HIS SHOES AND WOULD NOT THROW THE OPPORTUNITY AWAY BY QUESTIONABLE ACTIVITIES. WHAT MESSAGE WILL USC SEND TO KIDS: STATS OVER CHARACTER? WE SHAL SEE...

MAURICE SIMMONS IS A REALLY GREAT PERSON THAT IS REALLY DEDICATED TO WAT HE WANTS.I AM A FORMER STUDENT OF HIS MOTHER KATHLEEN SIMMONS.MAURICE HAS BEEN IN OUR CLASS PLENTY OF TIMES AND MOST OF THE TIMES ITS BECAUSE OF SCHOOL BECAUSE HE IS DOING HOMEWORK AND HIS MOTHER IS AN ENGLISH TEACHER SO SHE HELPS HIM OUT.I THINK THAT MAURICE IS AGREAT STUDENT AND FOOTBALL PLAYER.
