Keary Colbert

Posted by ESPN.com's Pat Yasinskas Very surprising that the first wide receiver the Broncos brought in for a visit was Keary Colbert. A former second-round pick, Colbert was nothing short of a complete bust in Carolina.   After a decent rookie season, he struggled mightily. Colbert was given every chance to hold down a starting job opposite Steve Smith,... more »

Mike Farrell of SportingNews.com believes so:Ronald Johnson, USC. Stunning how another USC guy makes this list (they had two in the running back category I did in late March). Johnson, in this scenario, is replacing the departed Steve Smith -- not Dwayne Jarrett. Smith was a superior talent for Southern Cal and will be a very good NFL player.... more »

From USCTrojans.com:

USC junior wide receiver Dwayne Jarrett was named the Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Week for his record-setting performance against Nebraska.

Jarrett caught a career high-equalling 11 passes for 136 yards in the 38-10 win over the Cornhuskers, with TDs of 12 and 5 yards to give him the USC career touchdown reception record of 31.

The 2005 unanimous All-American and Biletnikoff Award finalist has 16 receptons for 171 yards (10.7 avg) on the year. He currently is fifth nationally in receptions (8.0, first in Pac-10) and 24th in receiving yards 985.5, third in Pac-10). Already seventh on USC's career receptions chart with 162, he needs just 45 catches to equal leader Keary Colbert. His 31 career TD catches is just shy of the 26-year-old Pac-10 mark of 32 held by Stanford's Ken Margerum, 1977-80 (the NCAA record is 50 by Louisiana Tech's Troy Edwards, 1996-98). He has 10 100-yard receiving games in his career (including 1 in 2006 and 5 in 2005) and he has caught a pass in all 28 games in his career (with a TD reception in 18 of those contests).

Jarrett is the second Trojan to earn Pac-10 Player of the Week honors in 2006. Linebacker Keith Rivers won the league's defensive honors after the Arkansas opener.
