It has to be satire, although I don't get it because he was in neutral territory (New York City) at the time. Great concert, however!! Live at the Fillmore East rocks!

he was from Washington, and the Pac-10 (or Pac 8, back then)/Big 10 rivalry was maybe more signficant back then?
I know I've read that he was a sports fan before.
