James Wilson

Florida guard James Wilson has been on campus since last July, working out with teammates and waiting to get on the field. He finally practiced Wednesday. Wilson, who asked to be released from his scholarship so he could transfer, was the biggest surprise at the Gators' first spring practice. Although he worked mostly on the side because he's recovering... more »

How surprising was Long Beach Poly cornerback Donovan Warren's commitment to Michigan? A source said the Trojans listed Warren as committed during recruiting meetings. Warren's decision only reinforces a growing feeling that this class doesn't quite measure up to the confidence last summer about how many bona-fide stars would come to USC. There's still time for a home run... more »

The Trojans lost a valuable offensive line recruit (to Florida no less).

James Wilson has decommitted from USC and is now headed to Florida. Wilson, from St. Augustine, Fl., was headed to USC until he had some second thoughts after his week in San Antonio, Texas at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

Gotta still be stoked on Kristofer O'Dowd though.

While we've been busy wrapping Christmas presents (we were told we were going to get kicked off the internets if we didn't link to that), USC received an early one -- in a public commitment from Everson Griffen, a 5-star defensive end, with 4.4 speed and 3 nicknames (Big E, Super Freak, and the E-Train).

"I really like the guys they're bringing in next year," said Griffen. "I've gotten to know Chris Gallippo, Marc Tyler, Kris O'Dowd, James Wilson . . . everyone.

"They're great players and good people, so playing with them is going to be a fun experience."

Everson Griffen is USC's fourth 5-star recruit for 2007 and second huge recruit from Arizona. Welcome aboard.

He's only 6'5" and 315 pounds and regarded as the top center in the nation.

Kristofer O'Dowd chose the Trojans over Arizona, UCLA and Tennessee.

O'Dowd becomes the 3rd highly-touted offensive lineman to join USC's 2007 recruiting class. (King) James Wilson is the same size (6'5" / 315) and Martin Coleman is 6'5" and just under 3 bills (at 290).

According to the latest ESPN and Scout 2007 Recruit Rankings, USC's class is already looking like another #1. Amongst the highlights of our early verbal commitments:

Marc Tyler - RB (ESPN #1, Scout #7)
Chris Galippo - LB (ESPN #2, Scout #14)
Marshall Jones - S (ESPN #9, Scout Top 200)
James Wilson - OL (ESPN #40, Scout #48)
Aaron Corp - QB (ESPN #51, Scout #68)

And those are just some of the current commitments -- there are still the likes of stud RBs Noel Devine and Joe McKnight, top WRs Arrelious Benn and Terrance Toliver, blue-chip DBs Eric Berry and Ronald Johnson, and monster defensive linemen Marvin Austin, Martez Wilson, and Everson Griffen (just to name a few) all listing USC as one of the schools they're considering. (The Fanhouse has a more thorough list of the tantalizing recruits considering joining the Class of 2007.)

To all of you kids out there, we're not sure if we're even allowed to address you directly without breaking NCAA rules -- but if you're reading this -- trust us, you want to come to USC.
