USC Football In case you missed it, Mark Sanchez was named starting quarterback. I relegated this to Hot Links because it wasn't exactly news to anybody except Mitch Mustain.   From Rivals.com:PAT RUEL – USC BUZZ:  Ruel was a serious candidate for national recruiter of the year with an average star ranking for his six signees of 4.17. He helped recruit five-star offensive linemen Matt Kalil and Tyron Smith, but he helped pull in one of the biggest Signing Day surprises when he able to get Rivals100 cornerback... more »

Recruiting rankings can be subjective, but here's one way to evaluate. Who else recruited each player? Nick Perry chose USC over Michigan. T.J. Bryant chose USC over Florida State, Florida, Miami, Alabama and LSU. Brice Butler chose USC over Georgia. Blake Ayles could have gone to Ohio State. Now it cuts both ways. Malik Jackson was headed to Fresno... more »

When you consider how important linemen are for a program, it's hard to argue with USC's decision to take 10 in its recruiting class. The scene was on court at the Galen Center again, where a couple times Pete Carroll expressed his desire to see Tim Floyd's bunch hand the Bruins another loss this year.

Carroll said this class was about "bigs" not "flash" and he felt fortunate that the Trojans were in a position to play it this way, this year. Joe McKnight was sure excited about the 5 solid offensive line prospects.

After the jump are some notes from last nights event.

Dan Weber, Riverside Press-Enterprise From “Super Tuesday” to “Exactly Where Are We Now Wednesday?” is how the world is turning for USC football fans. USC will not finish No. 1 when the national signing day results are in, as it has in four of the past five years. The Trojans almost certainly won’t finish in the top five, as... more »
