No doubt Carroll has new help lined up for every assistant coach position, but losing Ed Orgeron is still a huge blow to the program. Not only has he been the most charismatic guy at USC the past 6 years, but since 2001, the coach of defensive linemen (the likes of Kenechi Udeze, Omar Nazel, Frostee Rucker, Shaun Cody and Mike Patterson), has been an extraodinary recruiter.

I could go on all day about how epic the Trojan defense has been this year, but why bother?  The numbers speak for themselves:

The Trojans have allowed just 11.6 points per game, with two shutouts, and are on pace to finish with the best points-allowed average since 1967 (7.9 points per game).
