Demar DeRozan is saying au revoir to Europe and hello to USC. DeRozan (Compton Dominguez High), one of the top basketball prospects to enter the NCAA in '09, has received a qualifying ACT score and will play for the Trojans, according to FOXSPORTS.com. There was some question as to whether DeRozan would be academically eligible to play at USC. Those questions have been answered after DeRozan improved his scores on the final possible exam for 2009 entrance.
"Yes, I am cleared," DeRozan said in a text message.
DeRozan is the Trojans' greatest hope for recouping from the losses left from OJ Mayo and the ill-conceived departure of Davon Jefferson. DeRozan is a multi-talented player, putting up sick numbers across the board: 30.6 points per game, 8.9 rebounds and 4 steals. He should provide Daniel Hackett and Dwight Lewis with a go-to shooter not afraid to move into the paint, and add a formidable defensive punch to complement the mighty Taj Gibson.

Yes, it's drafty in here. And no, it's not because you left fly unzipped (although that could be contributing). The first two rounds of the NBA draft will be held tonight, 7pm ET/4pm PT on ESPN, at Madison Square Garden, NY. OJ Mayo's final landing spot has been a constant source of speculation with sources projecting him to go somewhere between the Miami Heat at #2 overall to the Clippers at #7. The general consensus however, not to mention ESPN's own mock draft, has Mayo going 3rd to the Minnesota Timberwolves. If Mayo goes at #3, he will be the highest Trojan to be selected in the NBA draft.
Davon Jefferson is another story.

Pruitt hasn't received any playing time in the NBA Finals against the Lakers (nor has fellow Trojan-Celtic Brian Scalabrine), but his name did come up...

As we said for several weeks, Davon Jefferson submitted his name to the NBA for the draft. But here's the news. He didn't even have the courtesy to inform USC of his decision and the school was caught flatfooted while other colleges announce their players' decisions. We also hear Jefferson's clashes with Tim Floyd were a major reason he...
