Matt Barkley was fantastic on Saturday at the team scrimmage, leading the Trojans on three scoring drives. He finished the day 10 for 13 for 195 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. The freshman is very confident and poised in the huddle.

Said Coach Carroll:

"We haven't seen a freshman (who was) able to do this in all of the years. Whatever that means, I don't know. I'm not saying that's any statement about the future or our decision-making.

"(But) he's well ahead of the other guys when they came in. I really can only point to his experience in high school and the program and all that. He just continues to be comfortable in a situation where most guys have never been able to be this comfortable this early. It's giving him a chance to compete for the job."

As impressive as Barkley has been, Aaron Corp still has a better understanding of the offense. Corp was 8 for 15 for 146 and one TD. He has also not thrown an interception in the first eight spring practices.
