Before I begin today's Running Game Diary, I can’t help but feel like something’s missing. And if you’re a USC fan who’s been following the news lately, you’re probably feeling the same way.
Alex Stepheson, the 6’9” forward transfer from UNC was denied a transfer waiver by the NCAA on Wednesday, preventing him from playing with the Trojans this season.

USC coach Tim Floyd on the NCAA's decision to deny a waiver for Alex Stepheson to be eligible this season. ``We were disappointed to learn about this decision, but I respect the NCAA process. The 6'9" forward transferred out of North Carolina to deal with unspecified health issues facing his family.

He hoped the NCAA would reinstate his eligibility on this account; however, he failed to realize institutions only care about the interests of institutions (and not individuals). Just think of the horror universities would have to face — retaining these "amateur" athletes after they signed them.

Stepheson will redshirt this year and have 2 years of eligibility left at USC.

First off this team is Taj Gibson's. He lead the Pac-10 last year in blocks, but still had an off year all around. This year he should dominate.

Additionally, the offense cannot function without Daniel Hackett.

Ok onto DeMar:

1) excellent body control
2) very level headed
3) does not need touches or shots to get in the game

Did not get a real accurate read on his defense, but it's easy to see why this kid is going to work so well with Tim Floyd.

North Carolina transfer Alex Stepheson is finally expected to get word today on whether or not he will be eligible.
