14 Year Old Commits to USC

Devon Pollard, TrojanWire

So here we are making a stink about Pete Carroll recruiting high school sophomores, meanwhile Trojan Basketball coach Tim Floyd is pulling a one-upper. Floyd's recruiting middle school talent. Yes, middle school. Jeff Goodman, writer for Fox Sports, reports that Floyd has received a verbal commitment from an eighth-grader. We're talking barely past puberty...which could have made a factor in the decision. I mean one look at the USC cheerleaders and song-girls and I would've committed in eighth grade too.

Ryan Boatwright, a speedy 5-foot-10, 145-pound rising freshman point guard from Illinois who has yet to make a decision on where he's headed for high school (he's choosing between East Aurora High and West Aurora High), accepted Floyd's scholarship offer while at USC's camp this past weekend.

Mike Boatwright said the biggest concern surrounding his 14-year-old son's decision is the potential local reaction.

"I'm tremendously concerned," he admitted. "It could get ugly as far as kids getting jealous. I also don't want it to get to his head. I want him to stay humble."

That is your biggest concern? Your kid is a pimp, Mike. A super star pimp. Not let it go to his head? His head is about to explode.

We're all jealous he has something to look forward to in four years. He could have a mortgage, an under=funded 401k, a couple of 529 accts., and taxes. At least I have a basketball team to watch now.

Great news everybody. One of my sperm was just recruited by Tim Floyd. Hell yeah. Got a good scholarship too. He's got great breakaway speed, and is excellent on defense.
